TH1.10 Antithyroid peroxidase antibodies and histopathological outcomes in Egyptian patients subjected to total thyroidectomy for nonmalignant nodular goiter. Retrospective study

Abstract Introduction Thyroid is an endocrine gland. It produce T3 and T4 hormones through a series of enzymatic actions. These regulate body metabolism physiology. Immune disorders in this gland can cause hypo/hyperthyroidism. Objective The study aimed to assess antithyroid antibodies patients with benign thyroid masses the effect total thyroidectomy on titres. Patients Methods This retrospective work 112 cases managed who have positive peroxidase (TPO-Ab), antithyroglobulin (Tg-Ab), or both. All were euthyroid before surgery. function tests levels measured 6 12 months after Results Histopathological evaluation revealed Hashimoto thyroiditis (47.3%), colloid nodules (22.3%), lymphocytic (30.4%).
